About these cars...

About 4 years ago, I acquired a collection of bodies and chassis' from a previous owner of Riggen Industries....For "provenance" below is the sequence of correspondence leading to my purchase of the collection. There were many ho cars, ho chassis, 1/32 scale parts, a unique HO Tanker Truck, and some track and literature. I kept many of the cars for my own collection, traded a few of them and sold some to other collectors that I knew where heavy into Riggen ho scale. I have helped many other collectors fill out their own collections and try to maintain an informal want list for them as I come across related brass/Riggen items. My own collection is pretty deep right now so it is tough for me to add to it but I am always on the lookout!!!!

The items on this page are the last "dupes" from that collection, from your e-mail I thought this is something that would appeal to you....

You asked:
"Hello! I don't have a question, but just wanted to tell you that I am a former owner of Riggen Industries. Gayla Industries ( the Kite Company) bought Riggen Industries in late 1960. We ran it for some time but finally just shut it down. I have already sold all of my 1/24th scale stuff and cars, and almost all of my 1/32nd scale. I still have 7 cars on ebay for sale now. Seller name is XXXX. I will be selling several dozen Ho cars, bodies etc. I have a trunk full of parts, motors, axels, wheel, o rings, brushes etc. I probably will put them up for sale in a few weeks. Just in case you are interested."

(My response....)
Thank you for your mail...I hope you are a fan of our effort trying to rebirth what I consider to be the best of breed from the 70's---maybe the final nail in the coffin of the beloved t jet (back then)!...I'd love to learn more about the old times and the history. I am traveling until Tuesday but after that I'd love to give you a call and learn anything you care to share. I'd also be interested in acquiring any parts and literature you might consider selling! Kind Regards, Ron Bernstein

I talked with my son (who really owns this collection because when we closed Riggen, I gave him what we had left), and he thinks that your offer is a very good offer and is willing to make the deal. If you still agree, then I must begin the task of very carefully packing all the items. I could get it all into one box and send ups or maybe keep the ho cars separate from the parts and ship in two boxes. Any ideas?

I enjoyed talking to you also. I wish I could give you even more history but it's been a long time ago. I will pack as you suggest and will give you tracking number when it has been shipped. I guess just make out the check to me and I will deduct shipping before sending on to my son.

All of the colored tires on wheels are for 1/32 and 1/24th scale cars. I don't find any spare rear tires for the HO cars. There are some "O" rings for the front wheels, along with many wheels. Just wanted you to know.

After looking again at everything, there is one box with some rear wheels with orange tires and some black tires mounted for HO cars. I was just looking at the bags of tires before. I was out of town today, and your check was here just as you indicated. Will take it to the bank tomorrow. I would think that it will be Monday before it clears and I will ship then. I will pack everything real safe this weekend, and will get you tracking numbers after I get them from UPS
